Early Years Word Problems – This pack includes 15 timesaving, open-ended maths problems suited to students in Kindergarten (extension), Grade 1 and Grade 2. Problems can be used for a range of learners in the classroom but may also be used effectively to extend students in mathematics. Each question has a range of answers and students are encouraged to find more than one each time they tackle a problem.
Tasks are designed for students to put their knowledge and skills into practice. They may need concrete materials to complete tasks at a higher level and it is recommended to support students in this age group with concrete materials such as counters, number lines and tens frames to assist them with their thinking.
