Ready to engage your students in a game to work on root words? This root word literacy game is perfect for small group work and will have older students active in the learning process.

8 houses are included (plus a blank house) to help your students learn about root words. Use for small groups (such as a literacy group activity), fast finishers or as a hands on cut and paste lesson (yes, even older students can benefit from these types of hands-on lessons).

How to use this resource:

1. Choose the root words you want your students to focus on.
2. Print the houses and the matching words.
3. Cut the words out and mix them up.
4. Place all the words face down and ask students to choose one and sort it on the correct house.
5. Challenge: Give students the black and white template to create their own.

Teacher Tip: These look great up on the classroom wall as a student led anchor chart.
