Ready to engage your students in learning about parts of speech? This parts of speech literacy game is perfect for small group work and can be used all year round.

6 houses are included to help your students master parts of speech. Use for small groups (such as a reading group activity), fast finishers or as a cut and paste lesson.

How to use this resource:

  1. Choose the parts of speech you are focusing on with your class (eg Adjectives, Adverbs and Conjunctions).
  2. Print the houses and the matching words.
  3. Cut the words out and mix them up.
  4. Place all the words face down and ask students to choose one and sort it on the correct house.
  5. Optional: Give students the black and white template to brainstorm their own parts of speech house.

Teacher Tip: These look great up on the classroom wall as a student led anchor chart.
